MAI Expects ‘Positive’ Report

IRVINE — MAI Systems Corp. said it expects to report “positive net income” in its third quarter ending Sept. 30.

The company, which provides information systems in the hospitality and gaming industries, also said it expects to post higher revenue in the third and fourth quarters, and that revenue next year will “substantially exceed” 1996 revenue. Last year, the company’s revenue totaled $16.5 million in the third quarter and $17.1 million in the fourth quarter. The company earned $2.4 million, or 29 cents a share, in the third quarter a year ago.
