Microsoft to Sell Windows For Hand-Held Computers: The Redmond, Wash.-based company said it will sell the program for devices that will be made by five major companies: Hewlett-Packard Co., NEC Corp., LG Electronics Inc., Casio Computer Co. and Philips Electronics. The products are expected to go on sale next year for about $500 and will compete with existing electronic organizers and tablets such as the Apple Newton and Palm Pilot. Windows CE is Microsoft’s first operating program to be designed to be smaller than its programs.
