Laguna Beach’s Todd Has Great Day in Surf
Mike Todd, who is 14 and from Laguna Beach, turned in the top performance of the opening day of the Body Glove Surfbout at Lower Trestles.
Todd recorded the top score on an individual wave (8.83) as well as for the day (24.83) in surf that averaged one to two feet.
Layne Harrison of San Diego had the second best score of the day with 24.34. Katsumi Suzuki of Japan had the day’s third-best score at 23.11.
Among those also advancing were: Micah Byrne of Huntington Beach, Perry Faanes of Laguna Niguel, Peter Labrador of Fountain Valley, Ben Will of Huntington Beach, Maikai Makena of Costa Mesa, Blair Marlin of Carlsbad, David Pinto of San Juan Capistrano and Morgan Wright of Cardiff.
Surfing starts today at 8 a.m., parking is $6 but admission is free.
