Speakers to Address Community Relations

Share

The entertainment industry’s relationship with the East Valley will be discussed at tonight’s meeting of the Sherman Oaks Homeowners Assn.

Michael Klausman, president of the CBS Studio Center in Studio City, and Fred Sands, president of Fred Sands Realtors, are scheduled to speak.

CBS, situated just north of Ventura Boulevard near Laurel Canyon Boulevard, has 19 sound stages and currently houses productions that include “Seinfeld” and “Roseanne.”

A recent example of entertainment-community relations surfaced just outside CBS. The studio turned a small patch of dusty land into a makeshift parking lot, annoying residents who complained of dust and noise. In the end, the studio relented, but Klausman noted that the situation typified the delicate balance studios must strike between community concerns and its bottom line.

Sands owns one of the largest commercial and residential brokerage firms in Los Angeles. He will explain how the entertainment industry’s development affects home values and commercial space in the East Valley, as well as assessing home-value trends in Sherman Oaks.

The event will begin with dinner at 6:45 p.m. at Glendale Federal Bank, 13300 Ventura Blvd. The program will start at 8.
