Dense-Pac Microsystems Posts Loss

Dense-Pac Microsystems Inc. posted a loss in the fiscal second quarter on lower sales.

The designer and manufacturer of computer chip stacking technologies said it lost $372,000, or 2 cents a share, for the three months ended Aug. 31, contrasted with net income of $445,000, or 3 cents a share, for the year-earlier period. Sales declined 18% to $3.6 million from $4.4 million.

For the first half, Dense-Pac lost $227,000, or 1 cent a share, contrasted with net income of $725,000, or 5 cents a share, for the like six months last year. Sales were down 11% to $7.7 million from $8.7 million. The company said first-half results included a reduction of $570,000 in the value of inventory because of rapidly declining memory chip prices.
