Setting up overseas travel got a little easier for Internet users last week when the State Department made passport applications available on its Web site for the first time.

Anyone planning an overseas trip can visit the department’s new Web page, at https://travel.state.gov, and print out a passport form, said spokeswoman Sondra McCarty. The form must still be returned by mail or to a passport office, she said.

The site also provides forms for reporting stolen passports or to change a current passport.

The State Department’s main Web site, at https://www.state.gov, offers even more help for travelers, including travel advisories, currency restrictions, embassy locations and health alerts.
