IBM Chooses Product Made by Simi Company

IBM has chosen Tandberg Data in Simi Valley to manufacture a tape storage system for its midrange computer systems.

IBM’s adoption of Tandberg Data’s newest product line, the Tandberg MLR1 Tape Storage Solution, came one week after the system became available to the public.

Tandberg has already shipped more than 500,000 data cartridge tape drives to IBM for use in the AS400 computer systems. The new product’s compatibility with older 5.25-inch data cartridge products played an important part in IBM’s decision, Tandberg officials said.
