Leaders Will Discuss Business Health Costs

Share

A politician, a TV producer, a physician and an insurance executive who have different perspectives on health care delivery will be discussing them at the Radisson Valley Center Hotel on Thursday morning.

The topic: how businesses can cope with rising insurance costs.

The speakers will be state Sen. Diane Watson (D-Los Angeles); Ron Williams, president of Blue Cross of California; Nick Counter, president of the Alliance of Motion Picture and TV Producers; and Dr. Jack Lewin, senior executive vice president of the California Medical Assn.

Charles Stewart, chief deputy in Watson’s L.A. office, said the senator has urged small businesses to get involved in solving problems rather than simply denying their workers adequate care. Watson has scrutinized health care issues during 10 years as chair of the Health and Human Services Committee in the California Senate.
