3 Buildings Going Up in Business Park

Developers broke ground Thursday on three buildings to be constructed in a sprawling Oxnard business park, one of the first new projects in the area since the 1990 real estate decline.

At the same time, the company constructing the McInnes Ranch Business Park announced that a Carpinteria-based manufacturer has agreed to relocate its plant to the Oxnard facility when the building is completed next spring.

The company, Templock Corp., manufactures tamper-proof safety seals on products such as bottled aspirin and other analgesics.

The firm employs more than 50 people, most of whom will move to Ventura County, company President William B. Spargur said. “We may lose one or two people,” he said. “But the company is doing very well.”

The three buildings being built by the Saris-Regis Group will have more than 130,000 square feet of floor space. The building that Templock Corp. will move into is 29,000 square feet.

Local dignitaries, including Mayor Manuel Lopez, were on hand for the groundbreaking ceremony.

Construction of the first building should be completed by April, at which time Templock Corp. will relocate, Spargur said.

The latest phase of the McInnes Ranch Business Park is the first construction at the business park at Camino del Sol and Elevar Street in several years.

Economic conditions slowed down construction plans, officials said.
