Quilters Show Wares, Share Know-How

Samples of local quilt-making will be on display and for sale Saturday at the Valley Quiltmakers Guild’s annual Quilted Keepsakes VIII at the Los Angeles Equestrian Center.

From pieces completely designed and stitched by hand to high-tech, computer-aided designs, guild members will put it all on display for quilt enthusiasts and novices alike.

The event will be held from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at 480 Riverside Drive, Burbank. Admission is $5 general, $4 for seniors 60 and older and children under 6. Parking is $3 per vehicle.

A mini-quilt auction will be held at 1 p.m. and an Opportunity Quilt drawing at 3 p.m. On the auction block will be quilts made individually by guild members and one that was a collective effort.

Vendors are also expected to attend, displaying and selling antique and contemporary toys, fabrics and even software for computer-designed quilting.

The Valley Quiltmakers Guild was established in 1988. Members will be on hand Saturday to demonstrate techniques.
