‘Mosaic’ Festival Will Celebrate Ethnic Diversity

Cal Lutheran University will highlight the contributions of different ethnic groups to the region during its Mosaic: A Celebration of Cultures festival Saturday.

The daylong festival, which begins at 9:45 a.m. in the university’s Kingsmen Park at 60 W. Olsen Road, will include music from the Andes, the Caribbean and Zaire; Middle Eastern, Afro-Brazilian and Appalachian dancing, and a Japanese drumming group.

Activities for children, including multiethnic crafts, dancing, films and exhibits, will run from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

An international buffet lunch will be served from 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., featuring Chinese, Filipino, Argentine and Swedish foods. The cost of the buffet is $7 for adults and $4 for children ages 10 and under.

Admission to the festival, sponsored by Cal Lutheran and the Thousand Oaks Arts Commission, is free.
