Capitol Police Seek Teamster Affiliation

Hundreds of U.S. Capitol police officers have asked to join the Teamsters, the union said. Tuesday was the first day members of the Capitol police force could file for union representation under a bill passed last year that makes congressional employees subject to the same laws as other workers. The Teamsters said they have about 1.4 million members, including 20,000 police, security and correctional officers.
