Water District Meeting Includes Bus Tour

Share

A tour and community meeting on water issues, including a talk on the delta area in Northern California, is scheduled for Oct. 19 at the headquarters of the South Coast Water District.

The vital delta area, which provides water to two-thirds of Californians, also irrigates farmland where nearly half of the nation’s fruit and vegetable crops are grown. But the delta’s ecosystem has suffered from deterioration in recent years, resulting in water reductions.

The meeting begins at 8:30 a.m. followed by a 1 1/2-hour free bus tour of one of the district’s newest $1-million pumping stations, and the new underground water storage reservoir for the Laguna Beach County Water District.

The district’s headquarters is at 31592 West St., Laguna Beach.
