Claiborne Suffers a Knee Sprain

Starting middle linebacker Chris Claiborne was hit awkwardly from the side on a run drill and crumpled to the ground Wednesday.

But he walked off the field with assistance, was placed on a cart and taken for X-rays. The preliminary diagnosis was that it was a mild knee sprain.

USC has sent the NCAA its completed investigation of the most recent Shawn Walters case and sources have said that Walters has been cleared of any wrongdoing.

Whether Walters will play again is still up to the NCAA, which will decide if the school’s investigation was complete enough. The senior tailback is in his second season of two suspensions, the first of which was related to his dealings with an agent.

The latest matter involves an anonymous tipster last month telling the NCAA of an alleged infraction not covered in the first investigation.
