Re “Dole Team Turns Up Its Attacks on First Lady,” Sept. 28:

Bob Dole is so desperate to gain attention for his ailing campaign, once again he has resorted to name-calling and picking on the first lady. Go ahead, Bob, the more you accuse and criticize, the more you show your true colors.

Dole’s empty platform has absolutely no foundation and no constructive ideas, to speak of, concerning the future of America. Trying to distract the voters from the real issues merely proves his many inadequacies and just doesn’t work. It is apparent that he hasn’t got a clue!

In response to “First Lady Says She’s Willing to Help Fix Welfare Law,” Sept. 27:

I can’t think of a much better incentive to deny President Clinton a second term.

For the president to suggest that his wife work on fixing the “problems” in the welfare reform law he recently signed is an insult to the intelligence of the American people. Does he really think we have forgotten his attempt, led by Hillary Clinton, for the federal government to take over one-seventh of our economy by socializing health care? Or, is he now so confident of his reelection that he is dropping any pretense at being a moderate?

This offer by the president should be taken as a wake-up call indicating the left-turn direction of his policies in a second term when he would no longer have to measure the impact of his every action on his reelection chances. And, with a Democrat-controlled Congress, Lord help us!
