Carrows and Coco’s, the Irvine-based restaurant chains owned by Flagstar Companies Inc., are joining the growing number of restaurants with new Spanish-language advertising and marketing campaigns. The restaurants that formerly were owned by Family Restaurants Group in Irvine soon will introduce Spanish-language newspaper inserts that incorporate discount coupons.

“We’ve also translated the Carrows menu into Spanish and will introduce them into restaurants in 1997,” said Mark Shipman, president of the Carrows and Coco’s chains.

“We’re also going to test some Spanish-language television advertising in 1997. We realize that we have a diverse customer base and we want to give our restaurant managers all the tools they need to make sure customers are comfortable.”
