U.S. Team Defeats 49ers in Volleyball

Tara Cross-Battle had 22 kills and Elaina Oden had 11 to lead the U.S. national team past Long Beach State, 15-7, 15-3, 15-10, in an exhibition women’s volleyball match Tuesday in front of 3,088 at the Pyramid.

Oden and Cross-Battle each had five blocks. Caren Kemner had 17 digs and Paula Weishoff had 15.

Jenn Snyder had 10 kills and Misty May had 33 assists and eight digs for Long Beach.

In Golden State Athletic Conference women’s volleyball:

Azusa Pacific 3, Concordia 0--Tera Walker had a match-high 15 saves for Concordia, but Concordia fell in three games, 15-13, 15-5, 18-16. Azusa Pacific was led by Shawna Yarbrough, who had 14 kills.
