Iraq may still be concealing nerve gas and missiles, the top U.N. arms monitor said in a six-month report on Baghdad’s banned weapons programs. U.N. weapons inspectors have supervised the destruction of more than 125,000 gallons of chemical weapons and about half a million gallons of chemicals used to make weapons, Rolf Ekeus said in his report to the U.N. Security Council. But he added that “Iraq has not been able to account for a number of proscribed missiles and certain high-quality chemical and biological warfare agents.” Security Council members have repeatedly said they will not lift U.N. trade sanctions against Iraq until Baghdad fully cooperates with weapons inspectors.
