In his Sept. 15 letter, Lawrence M. Kates bemoans celebrities with astronomical incomes (“Sports Stars and Hollywood Celebs--Why America Loves Them All the Way to the Bank,” by Michael Walker, Aug. 18). Kates advocates a boycott of athletes and actors in order to cause a “reversion to saner levels of compensation.” I wonder if he’d consider extending that boycott to corporations whose top executives’ compensation make those who pay celebrities look like pikers?
