Pinkerton’s Reports 54% Rise in Earnings

Pinkerton’s Inc., the Encino-based security and investigations concern, reported a 54% increase in its third-quarter earnings.

In the three months that ended Sept. 6, the company earned $3.03 million, compared with net income of $1.97 million a year before. Its revenue rose 5%, to $207.5 million from $197.9 million.

For the nine-month period, Pinkerton’s reported a profit of $7.79 million, a jump of 55% from $5.01 million in earnings a year earlier. Revenue was $608.5 million, a 3% gain from $591.7 million.

Pinkerton’s also said it has agreed to acquire WKD Security GmbH, a German provider of security services. Terms of the cash transaction were not disclosed. In 1995, WKD had revenue of about $23 million.
