Brown Will Undergo Surgery
Indiana Coach Larry Brown will undergo surgery today to repair a double hernia and will miss the Pacers’ trip to Europe for two exhibition games this weekend against the Seattle Supersonics.

Scott Brooks, a free-agent point guard, signed with the New York Knicks. He spent last season with the Dallas Mavericks.
Terms of the deal were not disclosed.
Brooks will back up Charlie Ward, pressed into the starting lineup with Chris Childs sidelined because of a non-displaced fracture in his right leg.
Childs is expected to sit out at least three weeks.
