Brymer’s Foot Passes Test

Share

Starting guard Chris Brymer put the foot he broke Sept. 14 through a major test Wednesday, going through 20 plays. Then, to be safe, trainers iced his foot and sent him to the training room for treatment midway through practice.

“He’ll start against Arizona State [Saturday in Tempe] and we’ll go with him as long as he can go,” offensive line coach Mike Barry said.

Starting defensive end Willie Lowery missed another practice because of a sprained ankle from the Arizona game and is doubtful for Arizona State. Safety Brian Kelly sat out most of the practice, nursing a strained ankle tendon, but is expected to play Saturday.

Coach John Robinson called a rare closed practice and had student security officers monitoring locked gates, as preparation intensified for Saturday’s game. . . . Robinson will try to simulate today the crowd noise expected at 72,000-seat Sun Devil Stadium. He’ll station large speakers around the practice field and have his offensive and defensive teams work with silent counts. . . . Kickoff for the USC-Washington State game at Pullman on Oct. 26 has been set for 7:15 p.m.
