Armor All to Buy German Car Products Firm

ALISO VIEJO — Armor All Products Corp. said it Thursday it agreed to buy Car-Rex, a German maker of automotive chemicals, for an undisclosed price.
Armor All, a maker of automotive paint and upholstery care products, said it will merge Car-Rex into its German operations.
Car-Rex, a unit of Werner & Mertz, makes car appearance products, coolants, air freshener and anti-freeze. Its sales totaled $250 million last year.
Armor All has boosted its international sales by 15% during the last year, said Russell Simon, a company spokesman. Germany is the third-largest market for car appearance products, behind the U.S. and Japan, Caron said.
