3M Cleared by Jury in Implant Case: Minnesota Mining & Manufacturing Inc. said a Memphis, Tenn., jury ruled that the company’s silicone-gel breast implants didn’t cause health problems for a plaintiff. After six hours of deliberations, a jury cleared Minneapolis-based 3M on charges that its implants caused plaintiff Sandra Tyson’s medical problems. The trial lasted five weeks. 3M said the victory is the latest in a string of 11 rulings in favor of manufacturers in breast-implant cases in the last year. On Thursday, a Massachusetts jury awarded a woman $1.5 million in a separate case.
