Council to Discuss Shortening Sessions

Share

City Council members will meet today to talk about how they can make council meetings shorter and more efficient.

After a closed-door meeting starting at 9 a.m., the Ventura council will open the meeting to the public about 11 a.m., the deputy city clerk said.

The meeting will be run by an outside facilitator who will help council members focus their thoughts and keep the discussion on track.

“They will talk about protocols, things they can do to improve meetings, and how to make them run more smoothly,” said Mabi Plisky, the deputy city clerk.

Council meetings since December have grown steadily longer, Plisky said. She said the fact that this meeting comes two days before the council is scheduled to debate the latest stadium proposal--guaranteed to be a marathon session--is coincidental.

The meeting will be held at the police and fire headquarters at 1458 Dowell Drive.
