Robinson Promises a Really Big Finish
Coach John Robinson appeared to have bounced back from the disappointment of Saturday’s double-overtime, 48-35 loss at Arizona State.
“We’re going to win our last five games, win one of the better bowl games, and finish 10-3,” he said.
He was asked if he had second-guessed himself for ordering quarterback Brad Otton to let the play clock run out on USC’s next-to-last play, ensuring USC’s first overtime game.
“If we had run a play, we’d have run it right at them,” Robinson said.
“The last thing we wanted was for them to have the ball at midfield with maybe two plays left. They had a good long field-goal kicker, and [quarterback Jake] Plummer had them really moving the ball.”

Robinson saluted left guard Chris Brymer, saying he played “with great courage.” Brymer, in his first game in five weeks, played nearly the whole game with pain in his just-healed broken foot.
