U.S. Execs Say Economy to Expand in 4th Quarter: The U.S. economy will expand steadily through the end of 1996, and neither inflation nor consumer debt will get in the way, according to a Dun & Bradstreet survey of 3,000 U.S. executives. “Business executives generally expect sustained moderate quarter-to-quarter growth in sales and profits,” said Joseph Duncan, Dun & Bradstreet’s chief economic advisor. Of the executives surveyed, 64% said they expect continued growth in net sales in the fourth quarter, and 59% said they expect higher net profits. Most executives expect no change in selling prices or employment levels, but of those that expect changes, most said they foresee increases of both.
