Advanced Medical Purchase of Ivac Given OK: The combination of two San Diego-based companies will create one of the largest makers of intravenous infusion pumps. Advanced Medical Inc. said it was notified that the Federal Trade Commission had granted an early termination of a pre-merger waiting period, required by federal law to give antitrust officials time to review the $400-million acquisition of Ivac Medical Systems. Advanced Medical shares were unchanged at $2.875.
