What sophomore slump? Unlike another closely watched follow-up to a blockbuster debut--Sheryl Crow’s recent “Sheryl Crow”--the second collection by Counting Crows made a strong impression in its first week out, entering both the national chart and The Times’ Southern California chart at No. 1. Leader Adam Duritz is an L.A. resident, and local loyalty also paid off for Orange County’s No Doubt (No. 2), the Sublime (No. 9) and the Westside Connection (No. 2 on the singles chart).
