Assembly Staff Cut

* Re “Assembly to Cut 29 Workers in Effort to Boost Efficiency,” Oct. 12:
Bravo to the California Assembly for their magnificent effort to save the taxpayers $1.08 million per year and “improve efficiency.” But I believe I have a better idea that will really save the public some money. Instead of cutting 29 workers from the state payroll, let’s start with the elected assemblymen themselves.
The recipe: Put all assemblymen on part-time salaries and eliminate their perks. Now we’re saving megabucks. And just think of the damage control that would be in effect by limiting their hours in Sacramento.
