Litton Awarded Contract for New Guidance Systems

Litton Industries Inc., a Woodland Hills defense electronics concern, said its guidance and control systems division was awarded a U.S. Navy contract that could be worth more than $50 million over five years.
The contract calls for Litton to provide replacement navigation systems for all of the Navy’s four-engine P-3 and C-130 patrol and cargo-type aircraft.
The systems will replace existing Litton units that have been on the aircraft since the late 1970s. The new systems combine in a single unit the accuracy of the latest laser gyroscope navigation technology with precision satellite technology.
