Computer Sciences Posts 24% Rise in Profit

Computer Sciences Corp. said fiscal second-quarter profit rose 24% as overseas sales increased by more than a third. The El Segundo-based company said profit from operations rose to $49.3 million, or 63 cents a share, from net income of $39.6 million, or 51 cents, a year earlier. . . . Woodland Hills-based WellPoint Health Networks said its third-quarter earnings fell a less-than-expected 13% to $45.1 million, or 68 cents a share, from $51.8 million, or 78 cents, a year earlier. . . .
