Guilty Plea Entered in Mass Murder Case

Martin Bryant, accused of the worst mass killing in modern Australian history, laughed as he pleaded guilty to all 35 slayings at the Port Arthur historic site in April, reversing an earlier plea of not guilty. Bryant, 29, was due to stand trial Nov. 19. But he shocked Australia by confessing to a total of 72 charges--including the 35 murders--during a court appearance in Tasmania to discuss his upcoming trial.
