Bulgarian opposition candidate Petar Stoyanov won Sunday’s presidential election runoff with 59.73% of the vote, the electoral commission said. Final results given by a commission spokesman showed Culture Minister Ivan Marazov, candidate of the governing Socialists, polled 40.27%. Voter turnout was 61.49%. The governing Socialists’ defeat has widened splits in the party, and 19 leading members have called for a new Cabinet and wide-ranging policy changes. A leadership plenum is scheduled for Monday.
