Times Staff and Wire Reports

San Francisco-based BankAmerica Corp. said it will charge $1.50 per cash withdrawal by non-customers who use its ATM network in a move expected to increase the bank’s customer base and annual revenues by up to $20 million. Beginning Nov. 17, Bank of America will charge non-customers $1.50 per cash withdrawal for the convenience of using the bank’s Versateller ATM network in California, Oregon, Washington, Idaho and Hawaii. For non-customers of BankAmerica who use the firm’s ATM network, this fee will be an addition to fees charged by their home banks. BofA is the first California bank to issue such a fee. Analysts expect Wells Fargo & Co and other West Coast banks to follow suit.
