MILKING IT

Share

Come on. Two Sundays in a row with pro-Spike Lee letters is just too much, even for a celebrity-stroking paper such as the L.A. Times. I’m fed up with seeing Lee’s dour mug seemingly everywhere, from Nike ads to bus benches to the side of his self-named “joint” on Melrose Avenue (which he insists is not a reference to pot. Oh, pulleeze!).

Lee comes across as the most pompous, self-centered culture hog since Michael Jordan. (What’s next, Spike Lee cologne?) As for his so-called “art,” it certainly takes a backseat to his very unsubtle ideas of self-promotion.
