Notes about your surroundings Branching Out--The Tree Society of Orange County will be planting trees Saturday to create a linear park along the southern edge of the Fullerton Airport. The 2,700-foot strip along Commonwealth Avenue will be planted with 80 Brisbane box, maidenhair and purple trumpet trees. At the southwest corner of the airport, the project will coordinate with one by Jason Lee of Fullerton, an Eagle Scout candidate. The tree planting is funded by a grant from the California ReLeaf/California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection. Fullerton Beautiful will share irrigation system costs with the Tree Society. Call (714) 526-6559 or (714) 879-1938 to help plant or to volunteer for more sedentary duties. Bring a shovel, a pail for watering and drinking water. Dig In--Gary Hurd, archeologist and instructor at Saddleback College, will give a lecture and slide show Tuesday sponsored by the Orange County Natural History Assn. He will share the results of recent digs at Aliso Creek, where shells, bones and artifacts have been found. The free lecture begins at 7:30 p.m. at the Sea Country Senior and Community Center, 24602 Aliso Creek Road, Laguna Niguel. The center is at Moulton Parkway and Aliso Creek Road, between Crown Valley Parkway and Pacific Park Drive. Information: (714) 487-9155.
