Those HIV Tests May Not Be So Private

Share

Re “HIV Tests Go Private” (Oct. 30): If you search the World Wide Web for discussions of these services, the conclusion is that they are probably not anonymous since any call to an 800 number is logged and the calling number passed to the called party. This has nothing to do with caller ID and cannot be blocked using caller ID blocking.

There is some possibility that someone could use these services to get a list of people who are likely to have AIDS and pass it on to insurance companies.

This is so serious that it is important for your readers to be completely aware of this issue.
