Spotlight: Number of New Business Incorporations Rises

New business start-ups in California rival a high set seven years ago, according to CDB Infotek, a Santa Ana data service. For the first 10 months of 1996, 41,079 incorporations have been registered with the secretary of state, compared with 41,497 filed in the January-to-October period in 1989. This year’s figure is a 3.2% increase over last year’s, when 39,802 registrations were filed. Incorporations are up 3.3% in Southern California, 4.7% in the Bay Area and 1.8% in the Central Valley.
