Melting Snow Causes Roofs to Collapse
Roofs collapsed under the weight of heavy snow that started to melt in northeast Ohio, and temperatures plunged into the single digits in the Plains. Snow showers fell along the western mountains. Roofs on three trailer homes and 20 car ports caved in at a mobile home complex in Mentor from the snow pileup of the last few days. A toy factory’s roof also partially collapsed. No injuries were reported. Temperatures in the area are expected to rise into the 40s this weekend, leaving the chance for more cave-ins and flooding. Storms left behind up to 4 feet of snow from Cleveland to the Pennsylvania state line.
