Katella Stops Seven-Game Skid With Easy Victory Over Century

Katella scored on all five of its first-half possessions as the Knights defeated Century, 48-0, Thursday night in an Empire League game at Glover Stadium. The victory stopped Katella’s seven-game losing streak.

Francis Johnson started the rout by running 58 yards to the Century 16-yard line. Quarterback John Baldridge scored two plays later on an 18-yard bootleg.

Katella (3-7, 1-4 in league) increased its lead to 13-0 when Baldridge found Art Tiscareno on a 35-yard touchdown pass.

Tiscareno, a junior wide receiver, had seven receptions for 141 yards and three touchdowns.

Johnson set up Katella’s next score when he intercepted a Cesar Perez pass. On third down, Baldridge found Tiscareno with a 26-yard pass that gave Katella the ball on the Centurions’ 21-yard line. Two plays later, Jim Bittner scored on an 18-yard run.

Three plays later, Katella’s Cesar Lopez recovered a fumble on the Century 15-yard line. Baldridge scored on a three-yard run.

Cypress finished 1-9, 0-5.
