Voice Powered Technology Reports Loss, Sales Drop

Voice Powered Technology International Inc., a Sherman Oaks maker of voice-activated electrical products, said its loss for the third quarter that ended Sept. 30 was $1.78 million, compared to earnings of $199,000 in the same quarter last year.

Revenues for the third quarter plummeted to $1.9 million from $6.14 million a year ago.

For the nine months, losses totaled $3.47 million, compared to earnings of $547,000 the year before, and revenues in the first nine months were $6.37 million, one-third of last year’s $18 million.

The company said third-quarter results reflect late shipment of some products due to production delays.
