No Stars Named for Arizona Game

In an attempt to put a miserable effort at Arizona behind the Bruins, UCLA Coach Bob Toledo broke form Monday.
There were no “players of the game” named, which wasn’t difficult after a 35-17 loss.
Video of the game was not shown to the players, who had seen a video of the Evander Holyfield-Mike Tyson before playing the Wildcats as inspiration, “but I guess they didn’t realize that Holyfield won,” Toledo said.
“We’re basically going to move on to the USC game. I don’t think it does any good to dwell on the past at this point. Right now we’re looking at a one-game schedule.”
In another departure from the norm, UCLA has closed practice to the public this week.

Toledo on USC junior defensive lineman Darrell Russell: “He can probably play on some pro football team’s defensive line right now. I’d be shocked if he didn’t come out as a junior.” . . . Right guard Andy Meyers has been declared out of the USC game because of a knee injury, and his place will be taken by Sean Gully.
