City Ready to Contract for Street Repairs

Share

The city is on the verge of contracting for about $130,000 in street repairs for the coming year, City Manager Fred Maley said this week.

Maley said bids from six contractors will be presented to the City Council at its 7:30 p.m. meeting Tuesday. The council will then consider awarding a contract.

The council has earmarked money for the project in the city’s budget for fiscal 1996-97.

“The street work calls for an overlay pavement with a 2% mixture of rubber,” Maley said. The rubber will come from recycled tires.

Scheduled for repaving this year are portions of Valley Drive, Brewer Way, Crestview Circle, Valencia Circle, Mesa Drive and the intersection of Lemon and Serrano streets.

The council’s Tuesday session also will feature the installation of two newly elected members, Patricia L. Bortle and Richard Freschi. They will succeed Councilmen Bob Patchin and John Frackelton, who did not seek reelection.
