WASHINGTON — Sen. Edward M. Kennedy (D-Mass.) and several Kennedy family members marked the 33rd anniversary of President John F. Kennedy’s assassination with a visit Friday to Arlington National Cemetery.
Kennedy was accompanied by his wife, Victoria Reggie, his sister Eunice Kennedy Shriver, her husband, Sargent Shriver, and Ethel Kennedy, widow of Robert F. Kennedy.
The group stood at President Kennedy’s grave site for several minutes, their heads bowed. They left flowers on the graves of the president and his wife, Jacqueline.
The family also visited Robert Kennedy’s grave and left flowers there. He was assassinated in 1968.
Meanwhile, several hundred people gathered at the site of the assassination in Dallas to place wreaths of flowers in the slain president’s memory.
