In another 4-A Division game:

San Pedro 37, El Camino Real 7--The Pirates lived up to their top billing in a first-round victory at Daniels Field in San Pedro.

San Pedro (11-0), seeded No. 1 in the division after finishing second to Dorsey last year, struck for 23 unanswered points in the first quarter and was never in jeopardy.

The Pirates shut down El Camino Real (7-4) running back Quincy Wright, who entered the game with 1,252 yards rushing but was held to 54 yards in 13 carries.

One of the few highlights for the Conquistadores was a screen pass from quarterback Aaron Fredette to Wright that Wright turned into a 60-yard touchdown on the final play of the first half, making the score 30-7.

But if El Camino Real had any notions of a comeback, they were squelched when the Pirates drove 70 yards in eight plays for a touchdown on the opening posession of the second half. Running back Cory Smith ran the final six yards for the score and a 37-7 lead.

San Pedro was sparked by quarterback Melvin Yarbrough, who completed 10 of 15 passes for 165 yards and three touchdowns, including pass plays of 52 and 14 yards to wide receiver Jose Bojorquez in the first quarter.

Meanwhile, Fredette completed only five of 14 passes for 85 yards. The Conquistadores had 181 yards to the Pirates 283.
