Youth Held in Series of Sexual Assaults
A local 17-year-old has been arrested on suspicion of committing a string of sexual assaults around Newbury Park High School, authorities said Tuesday.
The youth, whose name was withheld because of his age, has been held at Ventura County Juvenile Hall since his arrest last week on suspicion of multiple counts of battery, prowling, sexual battery, false imprisonment, attempted sodomy, attempted robbery, forced oral copulation and rape, a spokesman for the Ventura County Sheriff’s Department said.
The six alleged attacks, all committed over the past several months, have occurred in the area along Reino Road between Borchard and Old Conejo roads, the spokesman said. The victims range from 14 to 37 years old. Authorities did not say whether the charges include a recent rape in a Newbury Park High bathroom after school hours.
