Oxnard Man Accused in Seattle Robbery
A 42-year-old Oxnard man wounded in a shootout with police last week was brought before a federal magistrate in Seattle on Tuesday afternoon to face charges of robbing a bank with two other men.
Mark Biggins allegedly held up the Seafirst Bank in northeast Seattle last Wednesday. He and an alleged accomplice were wounded during a chase and shootout with police, said Special Agent Dick Thurston, a spokesman for the FBI’s Seattle Division.
Also appearing before the magistrate was Steve Meyers a 46-year-old New Orleans native, Thurston said.
A preliminary hearing is scheduled for next week, he said.
According to the Associated Press, the third accomplice, William Scott Scurlock, shot and killed himself during another shootout with a police officer.
Scurlock was tracked down the day after Biggins and Meyers were arrested. He was believed to have been the so-called “Hollywood Bandit” because of heavy pancake makeup and disguises he allegedly wore in at least 15 robberies in the Portland, Ore., area over a four-year period.
Investigators are trying to determine if Biggins or Meyers should face any additional robbery charges, Thurston said.
Local FBI officials said Biggins was not a suspect in any robberies in Ventura County, but added that they would look back over their unsolved cases.
