Eli Home supporters will host a public open house and breakfast benefit Saturday to celebrate the long-awaited opening of the shelter for abused women and children.

After more than two years of planning and construction, the shelter is prepared to help 22 residents in a three-story home on Santa Ana Canyon Road, officials said.

Besides providing emergency shelter for as long as 45 days, Eli Home will offer counseling, parenting skills classes and other resources to families in need.

The pancake breakfast, sponsored by the Anaheim Host Lions Club, will begin at 8 a.m. in the parking lot of the Anaheim Hills Super Kmart off Weir Canyon Road. Shortly before 9 a.m., a shuttle will begin taking visitors to the shelter.

Guests must make reservations for open-house tours, which will follow the dedication and will last about 15 minutes.

The shuttle will transport visitors back to Kmart, where breakfast will be served until noon. Tickets cost $3.50, which covers the meal, door prizes and a visit from Santa. Information: (714) 282-6496.
