Shuttle Crew May Lose Extra Day Aloft

One day after adding an extra day to space shuttle Columbia’s mission, NASA informed the astronauts they may have to give it up and come home as initially planned. Bad weather was predicted for Kennedy Space Center on Friday and the following few days, and with the forecast deteriorating, flight controllers were considering moving Columbia’s landing day back to Thursday. A decision was expected by late this morning.
